About Us
The Problem
Environmental degradation and unsustainable agricultural practices are leading to a decline in ecosystem health, reduced crop nutrition, and increased waste generation. There is a lack of effective waste management systems and insufficient awareness and capacity among governing bodies and communities to address these issues.
Our Vision
Fostering a circular and integrated approach to sustainable agriculture and waste management, catalyzing livelihoods while harmonizing urban and rural landscapes for a thriving, resilient future.
Our Mission
Our mission is to implement innovative strategies that merge sustainable agriculture and waste management, creating circular and integrated solutions that uplift livelihoods in both urban and rural communities, ensuring environmental harmony and prosperity for all.

Centralised
Waste Composting
Since 2017, the Know How Foundation has been at the forefront of innovative waste management solutions with our Centralized Organic Waste Management (COWM) project. Located in Savardari, Khed, Pune, this initiative is dedicated to processing organic waste through trench composting, providing an efficient and sustainable method for waste management. By processing organic waste efficiently and reducing carbon emissions, we are not only addressing environmental challenges but also empowering local communities to take charge of their waste management. Know How Foundation remains committed to supporting and expanding such initiatives to foster a cleaner, greener future.

Home Composting
Our Composter Planters project is a decentralized waste management solution aimed at transforming household organic waste into valuable compost. Each unit is capable of converting up to 1 kg of daily organic waste into nutrient-rich compost while also serving as a planter. This dual functionality not only promotes waste reduction but also encourages urban gardening. To date, we have successfully installed over 10,000 planters, significantly reducing the amount of organic waste ending up in landfills and fostering a culture of sustainability within communities.

Agro Waste
Composting
Our Agro Waste Management project focuses on the composting of agricultural waste, which enhances soil health and reduces input costs for farmers. By providing training to over 2,000 farmers, we are empowering the agricultural community with the knowledge and tools needed to adopt sustainable waste management practices. This initiative not only improves soil fertility but also supports farmers in reducing their reliance on chemical inputs, leading to more sustainable farming practices.
Achievements
Farming Sustainably
Regenerative Farming initiative is dedicated to training farmers in Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA) practices. This includes guidance on organic certification and market linkage, helping farmers transition to more sustainable and profitable farming methods. By focusing on regenerative farming, we aim to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and reduce the environmental impact of agriculture.
Punjabrao Deshmukh Jaivik Sheti Mission (PDJSM) is a flagship initiative by the Know How Foundation (KHF) aimed at transforming conventional farming practices into sustainable organic agriculture. Launched in 2020, this mission focuses on promoting organic farming, enhancing soil health, and generating employment in the Wardha District.
The Ambabai Shetkari Gat- an initiative supported by the Know How Foundation (KHF) aimed at promoting organic agriculture in the Mulshi region of Pune. Since its inception in 2016, this project has been instrumental in transforming conventional farming practices into sustainable organic farming, thereby enhancing both environmental and economic outcomes for the local farming community.
