Centralised Waste Composting
Since 2017, the Know How Foundation has been at the forefront of innovative waste management solutions with our Centralized Organic Waste Management (COWM) project. Located in Savardari, Khed, Pune, this initiative is dedicated to processing organic waste through trench composting, providing an efficient and sustainable method for waste management. By processing organic waste efficiently and reducing carbon emissions, we are not only addressing environmental challenges but also empowering local communities to take charge of their waste management. Know How Foundation remains committed to supporting and expanding such initiatives to foster a cleaner, greener future.

Achievements
Efficient Waste Processing
The project processes 1,500 kg of organic waste daily, significantly reducing the burden on local landfills and converting waste into valuable compost.
Carbon Emissions Reduction
By composting organic waste, we have saved 314 tons of carbon emissions, contributing to a reduction in the community's carbon footprint.
Improved Waste Segregation
The level of waste segregation has improved significantly, ensuring that only organic waste is processed and maximizing the efficiency of compost production.
Community Impact
Grampanchayat Involvement
The local Grampanchayat has taken over the complete project, driving it smoothly and ensuring its sustainability. This local ownership has strengthened community engagement and support for the project.
Land Clearance Issues
While there have been some issues with land clearance, the Grampanchayat is actively following up with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to resolve these challenges and ensure the project's ongoing success.
